Amy Jorgenson is an owner/partner of Dwell Door County Real Estate. Originally from Elmhurst, Illinois, she spent her childhood and teen years visiting her grandfather, who lived on Washington Island. She fell in love with the beauty of Door County and the people of Washington Island and assisted her grandfather into his later years on the Island. At that time, she decided she someday wanted to make Washington Island and Door County a permanent part of her life.
Amy graduated from Illinois State University, where she majored in Mass Communication and minored in Photography. She worked at major advertising agencies in Chicago as a Computer Graphic Specialist. On one of her trips to the Island to see her family, she met her now husband, Michael Jorgenson. Mike was born and raised on Washington Island and is a Lineman for the Washington Island Electric Cooperative and the owner of Jorgenson Excavation. Amy worked for a local publisher in Sister Bay when she first moved to the “Door”, continuing her graphics/marketing career. After she helped Mike construct their Island home, she realized she had a passion for not only Door County, the Island, the people.... but found a love of building and creating a home.
Amy started her real estate career in May of 2007 in Sister Bay and quickly became an Associate Broker. Within 3 years, she was Designated Broker of the office on Washington Island. Amy has been featured multiple times on HGTV’s "Island Life" along with news specials concerning real estate on Washington Island.
Amy knew quickly that there were many things she could do on Washington Island that would benefit its community. She was a Town Board Supervisor; she also served on the Island Medical Committee for many years. She served on the Zoning and Planning Committee for 10 years. As Amy and Mike were blessed with two children, she ran for a position on the Washington Island School Board. Amy was Treasurer, Vice President and then served as that organization’s President for 8 years. She served a total of 17 years on the Washington Island School Board. Amy has also given back to the local Realtor® community, serving as a Director for the Door County Multiple Listing Service under the Door County Board of Realtors®.
Amy’s passion and integrity in her work is evident with every listing and showing, as well as her dedication to making sure every detail is complete while working with both Buyers and Sellers. Amy’s marketing background, along with honesty, integrity and listening skills, are all traits she believes has assisted in making her one of Door County’s top producing Realtors®.
